LG and Motorola are not the only one working on a smartwatch with a circular screen. If sources of SamMobile are to be believed, Samsung is also working on a Gear branded smartwatch with a round display.

It is, however, not yet clear as to whether the watch would be running on Android Wear or Tizen, and whether it would be unveiled next month at IFA or not. With the first batch of Android Wear smartwatches not really offering anything unique in terms of design, it is no surprise that most OEMs are already working on quickly replacing them.

According to SamMobile, Samsung is also working on another Gear branded smartwatch with a SIM card slot built-in that would be unveiled along side the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy VR headset at IFA. Rumors about a SIM-enabled Gear device have been floating on the Internet since the last few months, though nothing concrete about the device has leaked until now.

It will also be interesting to see how Samsung counters the increased power drain of a modem in a smartwatch, where battery life is already at a premium.
