According to the sources of SamMobile, Samsung is working on the Android 5.1 update for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge.
Samsung’s latest flagships have launched to great response from customers as well as reviewers alike. The handset is filled to the brim with cutting edge technology, which includes a 14nm Exynos 7420 chipset, 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a 16MP shooter with f/1.9 aperture and a beautiful 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. Both handsets received an update to Android 5.0.2 when they launched in the United States and other regions of the world last week.
Android 5.1 is not a major update, and mainly contains bugfixes and performance improvements, which is why Samsung seems to be taking its own sweet time in bringing the update to its flagship handsets.
Besides the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung is also working on bringing Android 5.0 Lollipop to the Galaxy Grand Prime, Galaxy Mega 2 and the Galaxy Core Prime, though no timeframe of when the update is expected to be rolled out is known. The insider also claims that Samsung is not working on bringing Lollipop to the Galaxy Note 2, even though some of the company’s regional branches have said otherwise.
