Samsung Unveils Limited Edition Olympic Themed Galaxy S7 edge

To celebrate the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Samsung today unveiled the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition in Brazil. The company in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee will be giving 12,500 units of Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games edition and Gear IconX to all Olympians who will be taking part in the games this year.

All the five colors from the Olympic Rings have been used as accents on the all-black phone, with the power button sporting a red color, volume buttons sporting green, earpiece and home button being done in yellow, and the camera ring having a blue accent. The rear of the handset also features the Olympic Rings at the bottom. Additionally, Samsung is also pre-loading the handset with a Rio 2016 Olympic Games theme and wallpapers.

Samsung will also be selling limited units of the Olympic Games edition of the Galaxy S7 edge from July 18th in Brazil, China, Germany, Korea, and the United States at a price that remains unknown for now.

The changes that Samsung has made to the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games is purely on the exterior. Internally, the handset continues to sport the same specs as the normal Galaxy S7 edge. This includes a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display that is curved on both its edges, 4GB RAM, Exynos 8890 chipset, 32GB storage, IP68 certification, microSD card slot, and a 3600mAh battery.

Samsung also announced ‘The Rio 2016 App’ that it has developed to help athletes and fans stay up to date with all the Olympic news. The app will be available for free for all Android devices through the Google Play Store. It will also be available on the iOS App Store.
