Samsung today unveiled its 2016 lineup of Galaxy A smartphones that offer a premium design and come with many new features that were previously found only in the company’s flagship handsets.
Samsung will be offering the Galaxy A (2016) lineup in three different screen sizes and options: the Galaxy A3 (2016) that will come with a 4.7-inch Super AMOLED 720p screen and a 1.5GHz quad-core processor; the Galaxy A5 (2016) with a 5.2-inch 1080p Super-AMOLED screen and a 1.6GHz quad-core processor; and finally the Galaxy A7 with a 5.5-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display and a 1.6GHz quad-core chip.
Design wise, all the three handsets look largely the same and follow the same design language that Samsung first introduced with the Galaxy S6 earlier this year. The handsets feature a metal chassis that is sandwiched between glass panels from the front and back.
All the three handsets come with a 13MP shooter at the rear with an F/1.9 aperture, a 5MP F/1.9 shooter at the front, Dual SIM connectivity, LTE, and a microSD card slot. The A5 and A7’s rear camera also features OIS that should greatly enhance their low-light image taking capabilities. Both handsets are also the first mid-range smartphone from Samsung to support Samsung Pay with MST technology.
Like its flagship handsets released this year, Samsung has laid great emphasis on the camera performance of its Galaxy A series of smartphones. Beside a barrage of software features like Wide Selfie, Palm Selfie and Beautify effects, the Galaxy A (2016) lineup of smartphones also feature Quick Launch that makes it possible to launch the camera app inside a second by simply double clicking the home button.
The 2016 range of Galaxy A smartphones will be available in China first from this month and will expand to global markets over the next month or two.
