Along with the Galaxy Gear and the Galaxy Note 3, Samsung has also unveiled a new tablet – the Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) edition. While I have no idea why Samsung is calling this Note 10.1 the 2014 edition, the tablet truly packs in some remarkable hardware inside a relatively thin 7.99mm body. From the design, it is quite clear that the Note 10.1 (2014) follows the same design inspiration as other Galaxy devices. If the Note 3 looks like a stretched Galaxy S4, the Note 10.1 looks like a stretched Note 3. The 2014 edition tablet packs in some serious hardware including a much better 2560*1600 display, an Octa-Core chip from Samsung (Exynos 5420), 3GB of RAM, and internal storage options of 16/32GB and 64GBs along with a microSD card slot. There is also the usual Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, GPS, 3G/LTE , an 8MP camera and other features that are standard in every device nowadays.

Like the Note 3, the Note 10.1 also includes a faux-leather stitched back, which looks like one until you touch it. On the software front, the Note 10.1 runs on Android 4.3 right out of the box, with tons of new software features from Samsung. All the new features that Samsung unveiled with the Note 3, including an enhanced multi-window feature, Pen window, enhanced S Note and more. The device will also ship with a lot of pre-loaded apps, including some tablet optimised apps from Bloomberg and Twitter.

Samsung did not mention anything about the pricing of the tablet, and mentioned a vague Q3 as the release date for the device. The 2014 edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be available in Wi-Fi only, and Wi-Fi + 3G or LTE variant.
