Samsung has just unveiled two new mid-range handsets — the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5. Both these phones are among the slimmest yet from the company with the A5 matching the waist size of the Galaxy Alpha at 6.7mm.
The devices sport a unibody aluminium design and feature a 5MP front-facing camera for all the selfie needs of today’s younger generation.
As for the hardware powering them, the Galaxy A5 is the powerful of the two and comes with a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, a 5-inch 720p AMOLED display, 16GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, a 13MP rear camera and a 2300mAh removable battery.
“The Galaxy A5 and A3 offer a beautifully crafted full metal unibody, slim design, superior hardware and the best possible social media experience,” said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communication at Samsung Electronics. “These devices make our advanced Galaxy experience even more accessible to young and trend conscious consumers.”
On the other hand, the Galaxy A3 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD display, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera and a 1900mAh battery.
Both handsets will be running on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box and will come with a multitude of software features that we have already seen on the Galaxy Note 4 and other Samsung devices including a Wide selfie mode for the front camera, Rear Cam selfie, Beauty Face, Ultra Power Saving mode, Multiscreen and more.
The Galaxy A3 and A5 will be available in selected markets from November 2014 in a variety of colors, including Pearl White, Midnight Black, Platinum Silver, Soft Pink, Light Blue and Champagne Gold.
If Samsung manages to price the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 correctly, it should very well be able to regain some of its lost mid-range market share from Xiaomi and other Chinese OEMs.
