According to latest reports coming out of Korea, Samsung plans on launching a phone upgrade program alongside the Galaxy S7 next month. The phone upgrade program will work in a manner similar to the one that Apple launched when it unveiled the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus last year.
In Apple’s Upgrade program, you are required to pay the company a monthly instalment fees, and when a new iPhone comes out, you can upgrade to it by paying a certain amount. It is likely that Samsung’s Upgrade program will also work in a similar fashion.
Initially, Samsung only plans on launching the upgrade program in South Korea — its home market — and might later expand it to other parts of the world.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S7 at the Mobile World Congress next month. The handset will reportedly be offered in an Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 variant. Other key specs of the device include a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, 4GB RAM, 32/64GB storage space, a microSD card slot, and a 12MP rear shooter with an f/1.7 aperture that will be optimised for low-light conditions.
