Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 6 sometime in Q3 of this year, so its not surprising to see rumors surrounding the much anticipated phablet slowly trickling out. However, today’s rumor is not for the Galaxy Note 6, but for a ‘Lite’ variant of the phablet.

The rumor suggests that Samsung is working on a ‘Lite’ variant of the Galaxy Note 6 that it will launch alongside its flagship phablet. The toned down version of Samsung’s upcoming flagship phablet will still pack in quite a punch contrary to its name. Rumors point to the device coming with a 5.8-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4GB RAM. Other specs of the two devices are expected to remain the same.

The above specs don’t really sound ‘lite’ to me, and if the Galaxy Note 6 ‘Lite’ does end up coming with such specs, don’t expect it to be significantly cheaper than the Galaxy Note 6.

Since this is the first time that we are hearing about the Galaxy Note 6 though, I will recommend readers to take this rumor with a grain of salt. Samsung did launch a toned down version of its flagship phablet in early 2014, the Galaxy Note 3 Neo, but the device did not particularly do well among consumers.
