For the most part, I like my Galaxy Note II, and I’m really enjoying the Galaxy Mega 6.3 I’m testing, but there’s something that gets under my skin. Samsung’s built-in ringtones are horrible. All of them. To such a degree that I’m compelled to go through the Google Play Store to find a ringtone application, download it hoping it’s not from some shady marketing company, and then listen to 30 less-horrible ringtones in the hopes of finding one that’s somewhat decent.

Now I know some of you like custom ringtones, and I get that. I used to like custom ringtones too, back when I was in High School. These days, however, I like my phone to sound like a phone when it rings, and I like my incoming SMS/Email sounds to not sound like a construction worker whistling at a woman walking past him.

So Google, if you’re reading this, can you please spend a little bit of money to hire some talented people to make a “ringtone pack” or something folks like me can download so we have something that doesn’t drive us insane? I don’t use Google Hangouts, but it came installed by default on my phone, and it has an “Incoming Video Call” tone that’s wonderful.

Make more of those awesome sounds, please.

And if someone from Samsung is reading this: What are you people thinking?
