Multiple rumors point to Samsung unveiling the Galaxy S8 on March 29, but there has been no confirmation from Samsung regarding this. Today though, Samsung’s mobile business head Kim Dong-jin confirmed that the company will be announcing the official unveiling date of the Galaxy S8 at MWC.
More specifically, a day after the company holds its press event at MWC to unveil the Galaxy Tab S3, it will be providing the Galaxy S8’s launch details (i.e. on February 27th). By doing this, Samsung is hoping to steal some thunder from the likes of LG and Huawei who will be announcing their flagship handsets at MWC.
Samsung has usually launched its flagship Galaxy S handset at MWC every year. This year, though, it has had to delay the launch of the handset due to the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year and the additional safety checks it has implemented since then. Samsung is now expected to unveil the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ at an event in New York on March 29th, with the handsets going on sale in most markets a few days after mid-April.
