Samsung has just sent out a press release that confirms what a leaked update schedule suggested – an update for its “iconic Galaxy smartphones” with Galaxy Gear support in the coming weeks.
The Premium suite of update will be rolled out for the Galaxy S4, Note II and the Galaxy S III in the “coming weeks”. The update will start rolling out from today itself, but carrier branded devices will get it in the “coming weeks”. Apart from Galaxy Gear compatibility and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, the Premium suite update will bring some of the features as seen on the Galaxy S4 to the Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3. This includes an updated Easy mode, Multi Window, advanced Camera options, updated TouchWIZ UI and other such enhancements.
The update will also bring KNOX support to these devices that “enhances Android security from the hardware layer to the application layer and allows users to safely and efficiently separate work and personal data on a single device.”
The Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy Mega will also receive an update in the coming months that will add compatibility with Galaxy Gear.
