Samsung Pay

At its CES 2016 press conference, Samsung announced that it will be bringing Samsung Pay to Australia, Brazil and Singapore. The company did not mention an exact timeframe, but the mobile payment service is expected to go live in these countries soon.

Samsung Pay is already available in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain and Korea. The payment service will also be making its way to China sometime in early 2016 this year, alongside Apple Pay.

Samsung Pay might not be supported by as many partners as Apple Pay, but it makes up for it by being available in a wider variety of countries. Additionally, since the payment protocol can work with previous generations MST based payment terminals as well, it works almost anywhere.

Thanks to MST, Samsung can even expand Samsung Pay in other developing countries where NFC-equipped PoS are almost non-existent. Samsung also said during its announcement that the amount of MST based payment terminals are 5x times more than the NFC equipped ones, which clearly shows how MST support gives Samsung Pay an important edge over Apple Pay and other payment services out there.
