Rumors suggest Samsung is working on a lite version of the Galaxy Note 3 that’l appeal to cost conscious consumers. Samsung is allegedly mass producing the device for an official unveiling at Mobile World Congress in Spain. The latest leak from Sammobile suggests the device won’t be as “lite” as we originally thought.Details from Sammobile suggest the LTE variant of the device will rock a Samsung Eynos 5260 Haxacore SoC with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) capabilities. In layman’s terms, that means all six cores will be activated at the same time. The Antutu benchmarks show the Note 3 Lite performance beats out the Galaxy S4 and falls just under the Note 3.

On the spec side of things, the Galaxy Note 3 Lite will come in two variants, one of which will include HSPA+ and another of which will sport LTE. Both devices will have a 5.55-inch Super AMOLED display (720p HD, 1280×720, ppi of 265PPI), 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera that supports 1080p video recording, a 2.1-megapixel front facing camera, 16GB of onboard storage, microSD expansion and a whopping 3,100mAH battery.

We thought the Note 3 Lite would be a lightweight device, but rumors now suggest that original line of thinking may have been incorrect. The Note 3 Lite is shaping up to be a decent device with specs that mirror the Note 3. The only differences now appear to be a smaller display and lower megapixel camera module. We will have to wait and see if these changes pan out, and if so,  will it result in a lower price tag for the device?
