Secure Folder Galaxy S7

Samsung today released the Secure Folder app for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 to help users keep their important files and data secure from prying eyes. The app makes use of Samsung’s Knox security platform to create an encrypted space on the phone to store your files and apps securely.

Everything inside Secure Folder resides in a separate sandbox for additional security and privacy. Users will be able to secure content stored inside Secure Folder by using a PIN, password, passcode, or fingerprint authentication.

Users can store their important notes, apps, photos, and documents in Secure Folder. Apps that are moved to Secure Folder will have their own app data and will act independently of the regular version that will reside in the app drawer. For better security and customisation options, Samsung is also allowing users to change the name and look of the Secure Folder. The folder can also be hidden completely, with the option to quickly accessing it being tucked under Quick Settings.

Contents stored inside Secure Folder will also be backed to the cloud which can then be easily restored on a new Samsung device by the user. The restore process has to be manually triggered by users though from the Settings menu inside Secure Folder.

Secure Folder S7

Samsung had first debuted the Secure Folder feature with the Galaxy Note 7 last year. For Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets running Android 7.0 Nougat, the Secure Folder app is available as a free download from the Galaxy Apps store.
