Samsung unveiled four new tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas last week. My personal favorite is easily the 8.4 inch Galaxy TabPro. It has a Snapdragon 800, 2 GB of RAM, and most importantly, an 8.4 inch display that pushes an insane resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. No word as to when the tablet will actually launch or how much it’ll cost, but expect that information to trickle out during the next few weeks.
The only reason I bring up the Galaxy TabPro 8.4 is because there’s a rumor out of Korea saying Samsung is going to make a variant of that device called the Galaxy Tab Round. As you can guess, the “Round” in the name references the same taco shaped curve that’s in the Galaxy Round. Unlike LG’s G Flex, the Galaxy Round isn’t going to be made available in markets outside South Korea, so I’m wondering if it’ll be the same case with the Tab Round, assuming it even exists.
Why would anyone want a curved tablet? Good question. I have no idea. Curves seem to be something that manufactures think we want. First there were curved phones, now there are curved television sets, and next in line is tablets. While you could make an argument about a curved phone being easier to hold, can the same argument apply to a tablet that needs two hands to be manipulated?
It’s going to be fun to hear Samsung try and explain this one.
