Thanks to the large number of pre-orders and the massive interest in the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Samsung has been forced to bump the production of the devices by 1 million units.

Samsung had initially plan to produce 12 million units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge in March and April combined, but has decided to bump the production by 1 million units due to the strong demand.

Out of this, the company will apparently be producing 5 million units in March, followed by 8 million units in April. The Galaxy S6 edge will comprise a total of 4 million units in this, out of which 1 million will be produced in March and 3 million in April.

However, despite the increase in production, Samsung will still be facing a shortfall of around 5 million as an earlier report had indicated that mobile carriers have pre-ordered around 20 million units of the Galaxy S6.

Samsung usually sells around 30 million units of its flagship handset in a year, so if it manages to sell 13 million units of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge within a month of its release, it is very likely that the company’s latest flagship will surpass the sales of the Galaxy S4 within a few months of its launch.
