Samsung isn’t afraid of launching seemingly crazy devices, and sometimes the company gets lucky and those devices take off, like “phablets.” Apparently they’re trying it again.
But this time around they’re throwing a huge display on what they’re still calling a tablet, despite the fact we’re very clearly in the area of desktop computing, as far as screen size goes. As revealed in images published initially by SamMobile, this is the Galaxy View, and it’s a tablet that boasts a display measuring in at 18.4 inches. Yes, an 18.4-inch tablet.
There’s an included stand with the tablet, which will make it easier to prop up when necessary (all the time?), and can be adjusted to varying angles. The stand also has a handle. That handle will apparently make it easier to carry around (never?).
There’s also no physical Home button on this device, based on the leaks, as Samsung has opted to go with onscreen buttons this time around.
As far as specifications go, there have been rumors that the device will feature a 1080p HD display, an octa-core Exynos processor under the hood, 2GB of RAM, and offer 32GB of built-in storage. The battery will reportedly measure in at 5700mAh. It will be running Android 5.1.1 out of the box if the rumors pan out.
Who is this for?
