For Samsung, the last Friday the 13th wasn’t so bad. The company managed to unveil a pair of new tablets that boast plenty of great bullet points on a spec sheet, and price points that don’t diverge from the expected. With the Galaxy Tab S lineup, Samsung has made sure that talking points about the larger mobile devices will continue to focus on the display, but perhaps that’s exactly where it should be. Considering the large display is meant to be viewed, from movies to games, having the best possible resolution in front of your eyes is arguably pretty important.

The official press release for the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 and Galaxy Tab S 10.5 focused on the future availability of the devices, while keeping quiet on any pre-order options for consumers in the United States. For the U.K., though, pre-orders kicked off on June 13. Both versions of the Wi-Fi-only tablets are due to be available in mid-July, while the LTE-enabled versions of the devices are set to launch later this year, on an unconfirmed date.

For those of you in the United States aching to get your pre-order on, Samsung has announced that pre-orders will begin for your region on June 17. As a refresher, the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 will start at $399, while the 10.5-inch Galaxy Tab S starts at $499. Both devices boast an Exynos Octa 5 processor under the hood, an 8-megapixel camera on the back, and displays that feature resolutions of 2560×1600. They’re running Android 4.4.2 KitKat right out of the box.

The new tablets are indeed powerhouses with beautiful AMOLED displays, but did they grab your attention? Which one are you planning on picking up?
