Back at the beginning of April, Samsung launched a whole new slate of Android-based tablets with the Tab brand, and now it sounds like Verizon, one of the largest wireless carriers in the United States, is finally ready to bring it to market with cellular-connectivity to boot.

It hasn’t been a secret that the cellular-connected Galaxy Tab 4, in some variety, would land on a wireless carrier like Verizon at some point after its unveiling, but it sure did take its time. Either way, Verizon has officially announced that the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will go on sale for the carrier beginning Thursday, June 26. As far as pricing goes, it’s pretty straight forward for the 8-inch tablet: $379.99 without a contract attached to it, or $279.99 with a new, two-year agreement signed on the dotted line.

As far as specifications go, the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is certainly not a powerhouse. The eight-inch display boasts a resolution of 1280×800, with 16GB of built-in storage inside, a microSD card slot to get more if you need it, a 3MP camera on the back, and a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. The battery is measured at 4450mAh, and you’ll find Android 4.4 KitKat on board right out of the box.

The real spec point for Verizon, though, is the fact that the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will feature their new XLTE compatibility, which means you’ll be able to access faster peak data speeds on Verizon’s network, as opposed to what customers would see on the carrier’s “regular” LTE network.
