After being available for pre-order for over two weeks, Samsung’s latest flagship handsets — the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ — are now available for purchase in almost 70 countries starting from today. The handset will roll out to over 110 countries by the end of this month.

The Galaxy S9 looks largely the same as its predecessor but is more durable than it. Samsung has also tweaked other aspects of the device to further improve its functionality. This includes the inclusion of AKG-tuned stereo speakers, a brighter display, and faster internals.

The highlight of the handset is its dual aperture camera at the rear. The 12MP shooter features a variable aperture of f/1.5 and f/2.4. The improved camera hardware along with Samsung’s new multi-frame noise reduction processing leads the Galaxy S9 to take photos that are noticeably better than the Galaxy S8. It is also capable of recording videos in super slow-mo at up to 960fps which only a few other Xperia phones in the market can do right now. The Galaxy S9+ also comes with a dual camera setup at the rear which allows it to offer 2x optical zoom and shoot portrait photos.

The Galaxy S9 also comes with AR Emoji which is Samsung’s own take on the Animoji feature as seen on the iPhone X. The feature does not work that well though and has largely been panned by reviewers.
