The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are among the most anticipated Android flagships of this year and Samsung’s first major flagship devices after the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7 from last year. If you are also on the fence about buying a Galaxy S8, but can’t decide if you need the bigger Plus model or not, let us help you out.
Samsung Galaxy S8 vs Galaxy S8+: Which One Should You Buy?
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are largely the same devices internally. They pack the same processor, RAM, storage, and camera setup They are only different from each other in terms of their dimensions which stems from the fact that the S8+ features a larger 6.2-inch QHD+ display. The Galaxy S8, in comparison, features a smaller 5.8-inch QHD+ display.

The Galaxy S8, in comparison, features a smaller 5.8-inch QHD+ display.
Despite coming with a bezel-less design, the Galaxy S8+ with its 6.2-inch QHD+ display is bigger than almost every other major smartphone in the market right now. This includes the likes of the iPhone 7 Plus, Pixel XL, Note 5, OnePlus 3T, and others. In fact, its even bigger than the Nexus 6P, which was a huge phone for its time thanks to its combination of front-facing stereo speakers and a 5.7-inch QHD Super AMOLED display.
If you are currently using a phablet with screen size upwards of 5.5-inch, the Galaxy S8+ will be ideal for you since you will be getting access to a much bigger screen with the overall dimensions of the device increasing by only a few mm. However, if you are using an iPhone 7 or any other device with a screen size of less than 5.5-inches and already find it tough to handle, you should stick to the Galaxy S8. The bezel-less design and the curved panels ensure that the handset is more compact than its 5.8-inch screen size would suggest. Don’t forget that both phones also come with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio display, which means that they are slightly longer and narrower than traditional smartphone displays to aid one-handed use.
Battery Life
If battery life is your top priority though, you should really consider getting the Galaxy S8+. The bigger dimensions of the handset has allowed Samsung to fit in a bigger 3500mAh battery on the device as well. So, while the S8+ comes with a slightly larger display than the Galaxy S8, the bigger battery will ensure that it is able to offer better battery life than the Galaxy S8 as well.
The bigger display and battery life also mean that the Galaxy S8+ is more expensive than the Galaxy S8. Depending on the market you live in, the premium for the larger Galaxy S8 model will be anywhere between $100 to $150.
If pre-order numbers are anything to go by, consumers in most markets of the world have shown more interest in the Galaxy S8+. This is definitely surprising since the S8+ is not a small handset by any mean despite its bezel-less design. However, it also shows that more and more consumers are now opting for larger displays on their smartphones
