The Galaxy S8 isn’t official just yet, but that hasn’t stopped the Rumor Mill from trying to keep tabs on all the important parts for the upcoming flagship.
As is par for the course, most of the more important details are already starting to see the light of day, ahead of any official announcement made by Samsung. This time around, a report from The Guardian reveals many different aspects of the unofficial handset, including that there will be two device sizes.
Specifically, the report states that Samsung will have two Galaxy S8 variants, with screen sizes ranging between five and six inches. Both handsets are said to feature curved glass, though, with the report saying they will have “infinity displays,” due to their minimized bezels. Adding to that, the report’s source says there’s such minimal bezel present that Samsung couldn’t even put its own branding on the front of either handset.
The devices are reportedly codenamed Dream and Dream 2, with the latter of which being the larger of the two variants.
As far as the camera goes, the report states that Samsung will only be making “incremental improvements” when compared to the Galaxy S7, with those improvements coming in speed, low light performance, image quality, and other key areas.
The Galaxy S8 models are said to feature 64GB of built-in storage, and each will support a microSD card for expandable memory. Additionally, they’ll have USB Type-C sports, a “new processor,” 3.5mm headphone jacks, and an iris scanner. Each variant is also outfitted with a fingerprint sensor, but due to the design of the handset, that is expected to be on the back of the phone this time around.
The report also reiterates that the Galaxy S8 will have its own artificial presence on board. It also adds that there will be a dock, called the DeX, which will allow owners to connect their Galaxy S8 and turn it into an Android-based computer, with monitor and keyboard support.
