The Samsung Galaxy S8+ is packed to the brim with features and the very best of the technology that is available in the market right now. However, one area of the phone that has concerned many people is its battery life.
This is because despite coming with a 6.2-inch QHD+ display, the Galaxy S8+ only comes with a 3500mAh battery. Now, as per tests conducted by the folks over at PhoneArena is anything to go by, the Galaxy S8+ will offer pretty great battery life. In their test that involved putting the screen at 200nits of brightness and running a custom web script that replicates the power consumption of a typical real life use, the handset lasted for exactly 8 hours.
In their test that involved putting the screen at 200nits of brightness, the handset lasted for exactly 8 hours. This is higher than the likes of the Galaxy S7 edge, Google Pixel XL, Huawei P10, and the iPhone 7, which could not last for 8 hours in the same test. The only other flagship phone that could beat the Galaxy S8+ battery life was the iPhone 7 Plus which lasted for a whopping 9 hours 5 mins in the test.
If these battery life results are anything to go by, the Galaxy S8+ should easily last a day of heavy use. Do note that the tests were performed on the Exynos model of the S8+ with the display resolution set to FHD+. The Qualcomm-powered variant might offer lower/better battery life, and switching the display resolution to QHD+ can also negatively affect battery life.
Despite coming with a 3500mAh battery and a 6.2-inch QHD+ AMOLED display, the excellent performance of the Galaxy S8+ in PhoneArena’s battery test can be attributed to its highly efficient 10nm chipset and the display consuming lesser power than previous AMOLED panels.
