The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus have leaked in some renders and photos so far, but today’s leak takes the cake as it gives us our clearest look at the device. The 360-degree renders come from the reliable @onleaks and are based on previously leaked information about the two handsets.
The renders clearly show the minimal bezel on the front of both handsets which has allowed Samsung to fit in a substantially larger display on them. Rumors peg the Galaxy S8 to come with a 5.7-inch display, with the Galaxy S8 Plus featuring a 6.2-inch display. The leak also confirms the dimensions of the two handsets. The Galaxy S8 will have dimensions of 148.90 x 68 x 8mm, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will have dimensions of 159 x 74 x 8mm.
The two handsets will feature an iris scanner, USB-C port, 3.5mm jack, and a fingerprint scanner which now resides at the rear. There is also a bottom-firing mono speaker at the bottom of the device.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895 chipset, 4GB RAM, 12MP rear shooter, and an 8MP selfie shooter. The handsets will also come with 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot. Apart from the design, Samsung will also try and differentiate the Galaxy S8 from other smartphones in the market through its personal assistant Bixby. The handsets will reportedly also come with a dedicated button to quickly trigger the AI-powered assistant.
Due to the strict quality control that Samsung has adopted post the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus will be revealed later than usual. So, instead of an MWC launch, the handsets are expected to be announced at a separate event that will reportedly be held on March 29th.
