The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ comes with a number of new features and enhancements. Among them, the most impressive one is perhaps Samsung DeX or Desktop Experience. 

Samsung DeX requires one to have access to the DeX station, a standalone drop-in dock for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ that Samsung is selling separately. The dock comes with an HDMI port, 2 full-sized USB ports, an Ethernet port, and a USB-C power in port, and a dedicated cooling fan. It also features fast charging so it is able to charge your Galaxy S8 while it is docked.

Connecting the Samsung DeX dock to a TV will provide Galaxy S8 owners with access to an Android-based OS that provides an almost desktop-like experience. In this mode, users will be able to run all Android apps, with all of Samsung’s own apps and Microsoft’s suite of productivity apps specially optimised to take advantage of the big screen.

So, when using Samsung’s own web browser in DeX mode, it will automatically load the desktop version of all the websites.

The DeX OS comes with its own Start menu and offers the ability to minimize/maximize and resize individual app windows. You will also be able to attach keyboard/mouse to the dock to easily navigate around the OS and for typing purposes. Then, there is also a Task Bar in the OS that lets you quickly see the number of apps running, with notifications popping up on the bottom right corner of the screen.

The Samsung DeX Station will go on sale alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+ at an expected price of $159 on April 21 or April 29 depending on the market you live.
