The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ look beautiful with their Infinity Display and an almost bezel-less front. However, the lack of bezels surrounding the display has also raised concerns about the reliability of the device during drops.
Samsung says that the rounded corners of the display on Galaxy S8 and S8+ should help make them absorbs shock better. So, how well does the Galaxy S8 actually withstand do in drop tests? As the two drop test videos below show, quite well.
While the front/rear glass panel did break eventually in the drop tests, the phone continued to work just fine. The iPhone 7, which only features a glass front, was unusable in both videos below after its display cracked.
Hopefully, the above videos should alleviate your concerns about the Galaxy S8’s reliability. This, however, does not mean that you should not use a case with the device unless you don’t mind footing a bill for a broken glass a few months down the line. And if you were hoping that the phone will emerge unscathed from the drop tests, well then, you need to realise that glass will crack when dropped repeatedly.
