Samsung’s German subsidiary has released a video that confirms the launch date of the Galaxy S7 edge Olympics Edition to be on the 7th of July. This device, would represent Samsung’s third collaborative effort with the international sporting competition.
Samsung’s tradition with devices to commemorate the Olympic Games, begins with the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note limited editions launching for the 2012 Olympics. Their last endeavour was launching a special version of the Galaxy Note 3 during the Winter Olympics of 2014. The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition is the latest edition to this line-up of devices over the years and the colours of the device attest the same, and it launches on the 7th of July based on the video below.
Similarly to the Injustice Edition, the Olympic Edition of the Galaxy S7 edge is most likely not undergoing any change to it’s internal specifications, with cosmetic changes made to differentiate it from the stock version. The colours of the Olympics finding their way onto the Galaxy S7 — yellow on the home button and earpiece grill, red and green on the power button and volume keys respectively, blue on the Olympic rings on the rear as well as the camera and flash accents, and the device is black for the remainder. The Galaxy S7 Olympic Edition would most likely include an Olympic theme and a Gear VR headset since the Olympic Games will be streamed in 360° for Samsung phones.
On July 7, when the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Edition launches, there would be greater clarity as to the pricing and availability of the device.
