Samsung today launched the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge in India. The company announced at an event in New Delhi that the handsets will go on sale in the country from March 18, with pre-orders beginning from today itself.
The Indian variants of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 8890 chipset, which features the company’s own custom ARM M1 cores. Other specs of the handset include 4GB RAM, 32GB of storage space, a microSD card slot, fast charging, wireless charging, a 5MP front shooter and a 12MP rear shooter with an f/1.7 aperture and Dual Pixel technology for almost instantaneous autofocus.
The Galaxy S7 also comes with a 5.1-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S7 edge features a bigger 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display that is curved from both sides. The former comes with a 3,000mAh battery, while the latter come with a bigger 3,600mAh battery. Both phones also come with an IP68 certification that makes them water and dust-resistant.

Samsung has priced the handsets pretty competitively in India, with the Galaxy S7 being priced at Rs. 48,900 and the Galaxy S7 edge being priced at Rs. 56,900. The handsets will be available in three colors: Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium. The company will also be bundling a free Gear VR headset for customers who pre book the handset. A barrage of official Samsung accessories for the handsets will also go on sale on the launch day, which includes flip covers, power banks, wireless chargers and more.
