Last week, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active made its first appearance in leaked photos thereby confirming its existence. Now, the handset has made its way through GFXBench revealing its full specifications.
Samsung’s Active series of handsets usually share the same set of specifications as its flagship Galaxy S handset of that year, and the Galaxy S7 Active is no exception to this. The GFXBench listing reveals the handset will come with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The front and rear camera set up also remains the same, with a 12MP shooter at the rear and a 5MP sensor at the front.
Perhaps the most interesting thing the listing reveals is that the Galaxy S7 Active will come with a 5.5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. While the Galaxy S7 edge also comes with a 5.5-inch display, it is curved on its edges that make it feel smaller than it actually is. The presence of a 5.5-inch AMOLED display on the Galaxy S7 Active should allow Samsung to fit in a battery bigger than the 3,000mAh unit that is found inside the Galaxy S7, which should translate into the handset delivering even better battery life.
Samsung added IP68 dust and water-resistance to Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge this year, but the Galaxy S7 Active is meant to take on even more rougher conditions. The handset is expected to feature military-grade MIL-STD-810G protection making it resistant to shock, salt, drops, and altitude pressure to a certain extent.
Samsung and AT&T have not announced any plans on when they want to launch the Galaxy S7 Active, but if the leaks are anything to go by, I’d expect the handset to go official in a few weeks from now.
