One week ago, the crew at iFixit managed to get their hands on a Galaxy S6 edge, and promptly tore it down, ultimately expressing how difficult it might be for the general owner to repair the flagship smartphone in a pinch.
Now, it’s the Galaxy S6’s turn. The teardown revealed much in the same way as the Galaxy S6 edge, insofar that the newest flagship has a very low repairability score. Specifically, that score is a 4 out of 10. That is, admittedly, slightly better than the 3 out of 10 that the Galaxy S6 edge achieved, though.
iFixit noted that while the modular construction of the Galaxy S6 deserves some credit, in the end the glass panels, and the adhesive on the rear glass make it difficult to open up. Perhaps unsurprisingly, then, the Galaxy S6 was given less-than-positive marks for the difficulty in preparing the glass without outright destroying the display.
It’s worth noting, perhaps, that getting to the battery in the Galaxy S6 is slightly easier than accessing it within the Galaxy S6 edge. So that’s something.
