Up until now, rumors have suggested that the Galaxy S6 will come with a metal mid frame as already seen on the Galaxy Alpha, Note 4, and more recently on the Galaxy A series.
However, according to sources of a Korean website — DDaily — the Galaxy S6 will feature a glass front and back with a metallic mid frame. The report also suggests that Samsung will be releasing two variants of the Galaxy S6 — one with a QHD Super-AMOLED display and a second variant with a curved screen on the right edge similar to the Galaxy Note Edge.
The report states that Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy S6 at MWC in Barcelona, Spain.
Samsung has always made phones with plastic bodies and only recently switched to a metal mid frame after years of criticism from consumers and reviewers. If the company does end up using a combination of front and back glass on the Galaxy S6, it will be the most radical design shift in its smartphone lineup in years.
As the case usually is, it is better to take this report with a pinch of salt, especially since most rumors have indicated that the Galaxy S6 will come with a metal unibody design. Additionally, a phone made with glass back is prone to slipping from hands and cracking, which goes against the durability that Samsung phones are known for.
