Samsung has today begun taking pre-orders for the new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in India, with prices starting at Rs. 49,900 (approx. $800). Those who order their handset early will have it shipped on launch day, April 10, the South Korean company has confirmed.
Rs. 49,000 gets you a 32GB Galaxy S6, while the 64GB model is priced at Rs. 55,900 (approx. $894), and the 128GB model is priced at Rs. 61,900 (approx. $993). All four color options — White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Blue Topaz — are available.
As you might expect by now, the S6 Edge is considerably more expensive. The 32GB model is priced at Rs. 58,900 (approx. $945); the 64GB model is priced at Rs. 64,900 (approx. $1,041); and the 128GB model is priced at Rs. 70,900 (approx. $1,138). The S6 Edge is available in White Pearl, Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum, and Green Emerald.
The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are by far Samsung’s best smartphones to date. Not only do they deliver all-new designs made of glass and aluminum, but they also introduce the company’s new Exynos 7 processor, its improved 16-megapixel camera, and its overhauled TouchWiz software.
The Galaxy S6 is expected to be one of the best-selling smartphones of 2015, which should help reverse Samsung’s declining smartphone sales. The S6 Edge probably won’t be quite as popular due to its price, but it’s likely to still do well thanks to its unique dual-curved display.
