Samsung launched the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in India on April 10th — the same day it launched the handset in other major markets of the world.
Just over 1.5 months later though, the company’s flagship handset is available at a hefty discount through e-commerce websites in the country. The launch price of the 32GB Galaxy S6 was Rs. 49,900 in India, with Samsung bundling Payback points worth Rs. 2,500 with the handset as a launch offer.
Now, the same model is being sold on Amazon and Flipkart — two of the largest e-commerce websites in the country — for Rs. 41,900. That is a discount of nearly 16 percent on the launch price of the handset. To further sweeten the deal, Samsung is also giving away a free wireless charger (worth Rs. 3,000) to all Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge owners who purchase the handset on or before 31st May.
The hefty discount is only available on the base variant of the Galaxy S6, with other storage variants of the S6 and the S6 edge still selling at their retail price. It is likely that the 32GB Galaxy S6 is being sold at such a discounted price because of the low demand. Most consumers in India are buying the 64GB Galaxy S6 or going for the S6 edge, demand for which are far exceeding their supply.
Nevertheless, if you are not interested in the Galaxy S6 edge, and can live with 32GB of storage space, the Galaxy S6 at Rs. 41,900 makes for one heck of a deal.
