The f/1.9 aperture 16MP rear camera on the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge are widely regarded as one of the best cameras present on a smartphone in the market currently. Now, according to the tests conducted by DxOMark Mobile though, the Galaxy S6 camera is not among the best, but the best camera on a smartphone currently.
In the still-image tests conducted by DxOMark Mobile, the Galaxy S6 achieved a total score of 88 points. The website highlighted the phone camera’s ability to capture very fine details with very low noise levels in bright light, its fast autofocus and the ability to preserve good level of details in low-light shots.
The website did deduct points for the noticeable noise in low-light shots, slight color fringing and the white balance going slightly haywire in shots were flash was used under tungsten lights. Irrespective of these minor issues, the Galaxy S6’s rear shooter managed to score the highest points ever in DxOMark Mobile’s benchmarks beating the likes of Note 4, iPhone 6 Plus and Xperia Z3.
The video recording performance of the handset was less than stellar though, but it still managed to score a more than decent 84 points. One of the major issues while recording videos on the Galaxy S6 is the strong “jello” effect along with a slight fare while recording videos in bright light.
Overall though, the Galaxy S6 aced DXoMark Mobile’s benchmark and scored 86 points — beating the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus by 4 points.
