Samsung has just announced the arrival of the Galaxy S5 in India at a dedicated event held earlier today. The smartphone is available for pre-order now with retail launch slated to commence on April 11.
Samsung India’s head of the IT and Mobile Division, Mr. Vineet Taneja said – “The Galaxy S5 is yet another great proof point of people-inspired innovation. Designed to be both effortlessly smart and intuitively simple, the Galaxy S5 has been created to maximize consumer benefits by integrating superior hardware with enhanced smartphone usability and an iconic design.”
The smartphone will reportedly cost somewhere between Rs 51,000 and 53,000 which roughly translates to $880, indicating that it won’t go easy on your wallets. Samsung is already offering the opportunity to pre-order it through its online store or via select retailers in over eight cities across the country.
Interestingly, Samsung is selling the octacore variant in India and not the powerful Snapdragon 801 model. However, users will find all the same features that were shown off during the handset’s announcement last month, so the change in processors shouldn’t be a major concern.
The Gear 2 will cost Rs 21,900 ($364) in the region while the Gear 2 Neo and the Gear Fit have been priced at Rs 15,900 ($264).
