Samsung has started rolling out the official Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S4, just days after a near-final firmware leaked. The update does not bring much visual improvements, but contains a lot of under-the-hood tweaks and improvements.

According to the folks over at SamMobile, the final firmware feels much smoother than the Android 4.2.2 firmware and there is a nice performance jump in benchmarks as well. The full change-log of the update is as follows -:

– OpenGL 3.0 Support
– GALAXY GEAR Support
– TRIM Support (Makes the device much faster)
– ANT+ Support
– Samsung KNOX Implementation (KNOX bootloader and dedicated application)
– Samsung Wallet comes pre-loaded
– Improved RAM management
– Improved Display colour reproduction (Display looks much sharper than before)
– Improved TouchWiz Launcher (Much less launcher redraws and less lag)
– New Samsung Keyboard
– New Samsung Browser (Full screen by default, new tab interface and more)
– New Reading Mode (Optimises display for reading, used by only a few specific applications)
– New Camera firmware
– Minor UI tweaks (Contacts app, Flashlight Widget, dialog boxes etc)

Samsung is rolling out the update in batches, so it won’t be available to everyone across the world immediately. Also, operator and network locked S4 owners would need to wait for a few more months, until the update is approved by their carriers.

The update is only available for the LTE (I9505) variant of the Galaxy S4 and not the Exynos (I9500) variant.
