After debuting a dual-camera setup with the Galaxy S9+ this year, Samsung is reportedly considering switching to a triple-camera setup with the Galaxy S10 next year. Additionally, the company is seemingly looking to follow Apple once again and launch three different variants of its flagship handset next year.

The rumor originating from Korea claims that Samsung is testing three Galaxy S10 models. Dubbed internally as “Beyond”, there’s a Beyond 0 with a basic 5.8-inch AMOLED display which will also be the cheapest in Samsung’s lineup.

Next is the Beyond 1 which also features a 5.8-inch display but its curved on its edges similar to what we see on Samsung’s existing flagship handsets. Finally, there is the Beyond 2 which is the Galaxy S9+ successor. It features a 6.2-inch QHD+ curved AMOLED display, and this is the model that will reportedly feature a triple-camera system.

So far, Huawei is the only major OEM to have launched a smartphone with a triple-camera system. The Huawei P20 Pro’s camera has been widely acknowledged to be among the best in smartphones right now, with its 40MP camera system taking some amazing shots even in low-light scenarios. Today’s report is light on details about Samsung’s triple-camera system so it remains to be seen what approach the Korean company takes with its system. That is if it decides to release the Galaxy S10+ with a triple-camera system at all.

The Galaxy S10 is still not in its final stages of development so Samsung still has plenty of time to tweak things around. If the company believes that the triple-camera system is not adding enough value, it might just ditch the setup and go back to a dual-camera setup as seen on the Galaxy S9+ this year.
