Samsung’s Galaxy Premier 2014 event is scheduled for 7pm in New York today — roughly four hours from now — and the company is expected to unveil its new line of Galaxy Tab S with AMOLED displays there. Here’s how you can watch a livestream of the event as it happens.
The event’s teaser, with its “Tab into color” title and colorful imagery, left little doubt in everyone’s mind that it will be focused on a new line of tablets with thin profiles and vibrant displays. As a matter of fact, the Galaxy Tab S line has been rumored for quite a while now, and its specs were recently shared by evleaks to confirm most of what we already knew. Both 8.4″ and 10.5″ Tab S will sport AMOLED WQXGA (2560 x 1600) displays, 3GB of RAM, 16 or 32GB of internal storage with a microSD slot, 8MP rear cameras and 2.1MP front shooters, and will either come with an octacore Exynos processor (4 x 1.9GHz + 4 x 1.3GHz) or a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor. They will be available in both WiFi or WiFi+LTE versions, and light and dark colors.
The only differences between the 8.4″ and 10.5″ versions of the tablets are the weight and battery size. The smaller will have a 4900 mAh battery and will weigh around 298g, while the bigger will have a 7900 mAh battery and a 465g weight. Remarkably, both will be extremely thin, at just 6.6mm.
