Samsung’s upcoming midrange devices, the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7, have both passed through China’s regulatory authority TEENA for certification hinting at their impending launch.
The Galaxy On5 comes equipped with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 resolution. The device is powered by a Snapdragon 617 chipset which is an octa-core chip running at 1.5 GHz and an Adreno 405 GPU. It also packs in 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of expandable storage. The device features a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP selfie shooter.
Unlike the original On5, the 2016 variant of the handset will also come with a fingerprint scanner embedded into its home button. The Galaxy On5 comes with Android 6.0.1 pre-installed and is powered by a 2600mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy On7 comes with a slightly larger 5.5-inch display with Full HD resolution. The device features a Snapdragon 625 chipset which is an octa-core 2 GHz chip that also features an Adreno 506 GPU. The Galaxy On7 will be sold with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage which is expandable up to 128GB. Like its smaller brother, the On7 also features a fingerprint scanner integrated into its home button.
Just like the Galaxy On5, the On7 features a 13MP camera for the rear and an 8MP camera for the front. A 3300mAh battery powers the Galaxy On7 and it comes preloaded with Android 6.0.1. The device is expected to be 8mm thick
The Galaxy On5 will be available in Gold, Pink (Rose) Gold, Black and Metallic Gold (though we suspect it might be metallic silver and the word is lost in translation). The On7 on the other hand, would be available only in Gold.
It is likely that soon after its Chinese debut, the Galaxy On5 and On7 would also go on sale in India and other emerging markets of the world.
