In a move that is going to disappoint many Galaxy Note 4 owners, Samsung has started rolling out the Lollipop update for its 2013 flagship phablet — the Galaxy Note 3.

For now, the Korean company has only started rolling out the Lollipop update in Russia with no word on when it will be available for the device in other regions of the world.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 3 brings with it a number of goodies and features, including re-designed system apps that adhere to the Material Design guidelines, Smart Lock, a revamped Recents App UI, improved system responsiveness and more.

Below is a quick video from SamMobile showing the Galaxy Note 3 running Lollipop, though the video is based on a leaked Lollipop firmware for the device.

The Galaxy Note 3 is the second device from Samsung to receive the Lollipop update. The Korean company started rolling out the Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy S5 towards the end of December.

Samsung rolling out the Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 3 before the Galaxy Note 4 is definitely not going to do down well with the owners of its latest phablet. It is also a rarity to see a company update its previous generation device to a newer version of Android before its current generation flagship.

Galaxy Note 4 owners can only hope that Samsung starts rolling out the Lollipop update for their device sometime soon as well.
