Do you have a Samsung Galaxy Note II? Are you tired of being on Android 4.1? Well, if you live in India, then I have some good news for you. According to the team at SamMobile, Samsung has officially begun pushing out Android 4.3 to Galaxy Note II users. The changelog is what you’d come to expect: Support for the Galaxy Gear, brand new icons and TouchWiz theme to be more in line with the Galaxy S4, Samsung Knox, and other Samsung apps. Sadly, the camera app from the S4 isn’t in this update, and neither is the new version of S-Note.
Why India first? Your guess is as good as mine. When it came to the Galaxy S4, Germany was picked first. When it was for the S3, Poland came first. I’m sure that within the next two to three weeks, everyone will get this update, assuming no bugs are found. In case you haven’t been following the story, the Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 was recently put on hold due to customer complaints. Here’s hoping Samsung makes sure the Note II doesn’t have those same issues.
When will the Note II get Android 4.4 KitKat? That’s a whole other can of worms I don’t even know how to dissect right now. Right now that’s a Nexus only version of Android, which means it’s going to take a few months for it to his HTC/Samsung/Sony devices. The fact that Android 4.4 makes it so easy to change the default launcher and default SMS app might even turn hardware makers off because they depend on their software to differentiate their devices.
