In a new note issued to its investors and obtained by 9to5Google, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has made certain predictions surrounding Samsung’s latest flagship handsets, the Galaxy S8 and S8+, and the upcoming Galaxy Note 8.

The analyst notes that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are selling “better than expected” in their pre-order period. This has led the analyst to increase the shipment prediction of the handset from 40-45 million units to 50-55 million units. The strong consumer interest in the handset is due to the Infinity Display at the front which has overshadowed other aspects of the device, including the lack of a dual-camera setup at the rear.

It is the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 for which Kuo makes some big predictions. He says that the handset will feature a dual-camera setup which will be its “most important upgrade.” The dual-camera setup will consist of a primary 12MP shooter with OIS and Dual Pixel AF, while the secondary lens will be a 13MP telephoto lens with OIS and 6P lens. He says that the dual-camera setup of the Galaxy Note 8 will be “much better” than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, and will be similar in performance to that of the OLED iPhone.

Other aspects of the Galaxy Note 8 will be very similar to that of the Galaxy S8. Like the latter, the Note 8 will also come with an Infinity Display, though it will be slightly larger at 6.4-inch. It will be powered by an Exynos 8895 processor or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset depending on the region.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 8 in August or September this year, just before Apple unveils its new iPhone lineup.
