Rumor Samsung Galaxy Note 6

We have heard quite a bit about the Galaxy Note 7 at this point, including the fact that Samsung will be calling it the Note 7 and not the Note 6 to make sure consumers are not confused into thinking that the handset is older than the Galaxy S7.

Confirming that Samsung indeed plans on calling the next big thing the Galaxy Note 7, @evleaks has posted what seemingly looks like the official naming logo of the handset. While this change in naming scheme might seem a bit weird for longtime Note followers, it will also help Samsung in better taking on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus when they launch later this year.

The leaker than followed it up by confirming some specs of the handset as well. Contrary to the rumors, @evleaks says that the Galaxy Note 7 will come with a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. We have only heard rumors pointing to the Note 7 coming with a 5.8-inch display up until now.

The leaker does not mention whether the screen will be curved on both edges like the Galaxy S7 edge or not. There have been contradicting rumors on this front, and even now, it remains unclear if Samsung will be introducing its curved AMOLED panel to the Note lineup this year or not.

Other confirmed specs of the device include a 12MP rear shooter with Dual Pixels — as seen on the Galaxy S7, a 5MP front shooter, IP68 certification for dust and water-resistance, and 64GB internal memory with microSD card slot. Interestingly, the device will also come with an Iris scanner, something that has long been rumored to show up in a flagship Samsung device over the years, but has not turned into a reality yet.

Reports point to Samsung unveiling the Galaxy Note 7 in early August with the device going on sale soon after.
