Samsung today sent out invites for its next Unpacked event that will be held on August 2nd. The company has already confirmed in its announcement that it will be launching the Galaxy Note 7 at the event.
The launch event will be taking place at 11:00 a.m. EDT in New York on August 2, 2016, with simultaneous launch events being held in Rio de Janeiro at noon and in London at 4 p.m.
Samsung teases some features of the Galaxy Note 7 in its announcement by saying that “with added functionality of the S Pen and large screen, the Galaxy Note7 is a powerful instrument for achievement and self-expression, and is made for those who want to get the most from their phones – and their lives.”
The company also clarifies its decision of calling the handset as the Galaxy Note 7, and not Galaxy Note 6. The first reason is that the handset will complement Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 edge handsets and unify its product portfolio, with the second being that this name change will help minimise confusion among consumers regarding its high-end product portfolio.
The Galaxy Note 7 has already leaked numerous times within the last month or so. The handset will come with a 5.8-inch curved AMOLED Quad HD display, 4GB RAM, and the same camera setup as the Galaxy S7. It will also feature a Snapdragon 821 chipset and an iris scanner.
