The Galaxy Note 3 packs a boatload of software features, almost so many that you would think it would be impossible for Samsung to introduce newer ones with a newer flagship. However, that’s exactly what the company did with the Galaxy S5, and today, some of the new features of the device are making their way to the Galaxy Note 3 through a software update.
An update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy Note 3’s Snapdragon variant in the UK in a 185 MB over the air package, and it extends the feature list by adding the Download Booster and Kids Mode functionality that debuted on the Galaxy S5. Download Booster is a feature that increases download speeds for large files by combining both the Wi-Fi and LTE connections on a device, and can actually be obtained through third-party means by those using any rooted device.
Kids Mode is self-explanatory and lets you hand over your phone to the little ones with most of the phone’s functions inaccessible and locked out. The update also updates KNOX on the Galaxy Note 3 to version 2.0, and should be hitting more regions and the Exynos variant of the device in the coming days. As always, try and be patient, or head into the Settings » General » About phone » Software updates menu and start mashing the Check now button to try and force the update to show up right away.
