Just a couple of weeks after Samsung launched the Galaxy J2 (2016) in India, the company has now unveiled the Galaxy J2 Pro in the country. The handset is essentially a slightly beefed up version of the original J2 as it comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
For comparison, the original J2 features 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. Other specs of the J2 Pro remains exactly the same as the J2. This includes a 5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, a 1.5GHz quad-core Spreadtrum SC8830 processor, microSD card slot, 8MP/5MP shooters, and a 2600mAh battery. The handset runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Touchwiz on top of it that comes with many India-specific features like S Bike mode, Ultra Data Saving mode, and Turbo Speed. The last one, Samsung claims, allows the J2 Pro to launch apps up to 40% faster than devices that have twice the amount of RAM. And just like the J2, the Pro also features a Smart Glow LED notification ring at its rear that can be fully customised to one’s liking.
Priced at Rs. 9,890, the Galaxy J2 Pro (2016) is a mere 140 bucks costlier than the original J2 unveiled earlier this month. That extra 140 bucks nets you 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage space, which is a no-brainer. The handset is available for purchase through Snapdeal in three colors: black, silver, and gold.
If you don’t mind shelling out an additional 110 bucks, you can get Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 that comes with a significantly more powerful processor, a larger and higher resolution display, metal unibody build, fingerprint scanner, and a substantially larger battery. Overall, until and unless you are a Samsung fanboy, there is little reason to buy the Galaxy J2 Pro (2016) over other excellent handsets that are already available in India.
