After being leaked in numerous photos, Samsung today officially unveiled the Galaxy C5 in China. The metal clad mid-range smartphone from the company shares some design cues from HTC’s iconic One series.
Despite its premium design, the Galaxy C5 is an out and out mid-range handset. Packing in a Snapdragon 617 chipset, a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display, 4GB RAM, and 32GB of storage space, the handset is not going to win any benchmark wars. Nonetheless, the 6.7mm thin handset still packs in key features like a fingerprint scanner into its home button and Samsung Pay support. There is also support for dual-SIM connectivity (hybrid SIM slot), LTE support, a microSD card slot, and a 2,600mAh battery.
The 143g heavy handset sports a 16MP shooter at its rear with an f/1.9 aperture and two-tone dual-LED flash, while the front houses an 8MP selfie snapper. Unlike the Galaxy J7 (2016), the Galaxy C5 does not feature a LED flash in the front. Samsung will be offering the Galaxy C5 in gold, pink, gray and silver colors. The handset is already up for pre-order for CNY 2,200 ($335) in China.
There is no word on when Samsung will launch the Galaxy C5 in other regions of the world, but if the company’s past record is anything to go by, the handset should be launching in India within a couple of months.
