Samsung and T-Mobile have teamed up to quietly launch a new, affordable smartphone onto the market. The Galaxy Avant will not be catching any stares from individuals who want the best specifications possible in their phone, but anyone looking to get a mid-range device for cheap will certainly want to take a second look.
By and large, the Galaxy Avant from Samsung doesn’t compare at all to devices like the Galaxy S5 or HTC One (M8), but it’s not supposed to. With features like a 4.5-inch qHD (960×540) display, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back, it’s obviously meant to be a mid-range handset. It is running Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box, and it does boast 16GB of built-in storage, with 4G LTE connectivity for good measure, so that should count for something. There is also 1.5GB of RAM, and you can expand the storage with a microSD card up to 64GB.
As far as pricing goes, T-Mobile will let you take it home with $0 up front, and then $9 per month for the next 24 months. If you want to just buy it outright, and skip all the monthly fees attached to the device itself, you can pick it up for only $216.
Does this sound like a phone you’d pick up?
