We have already seen and heard quite a bit about the Galaxy Alpha — rumored to be Samsung’s first Android phone with a metallic body. However, it was not clear whether Samsung would be unveiling the device with the Note 4 at IFA or at a separate event to be held earlier.
Today, the folks over at SamMobile have managed to solve this mystery and can confirm that the Galaxy Alpha would be launched next month on August 4th (.i.e next week itself). The Galaxy Alpha is rumored to be a direct competitor to the next-generation iPhone from Apple and will sport a metallic body, even though the back will be similar to the one seen on the Galaxy S5.
Specs of the Galaxy Alpha remain largely unknown, though the device is confirmed to sport a 720p resolution Super-AMOLED display and a hear-rate sensor. Other rumored specs of the handset include a 4.8-inch display, 32GB of internal storage and LTE connectivity.
It will be interesting to see how consumers react to the Galaxy Alpha since even though it comes with a metallic body, the back of the handset is still made of plastic.
