Samsung today unveiled the Galaxy A80 featuring a rotating camera at the top. This is Samsung’s first smartphone which avoids the notch by using a unique design for the triple camera.

Samsung’s take on the pop-up camera is very different from the likes of Oppo and Vivo. Its implementation is very similar to the Oppo N1 which was released almost 5 years ago.

The front of the Galaxy A80 is dominated by a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with minimal bezels surrounding it. The phone features 3D glass panels at the front and rear, with a metal frame sandwiched by it. Other specs of the Galaxy A80 include a 3,700mAh battery with 25W fast charging, an octa-core Snapdragon 730G chip, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage, an on-screen fingerprint scanner, and more.

Coming to the triple camera setup, it consists of a primary 48MP f/2.0 shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter with an f/2.2 lens, and a 3D depth sensor. By default, the camera points to the rear but when the user switches to the front camera in an app, the camera section pops up and rotates to the front. Other camera features include Flaw Detection, Scene Optimizer, Super Steady Video, and Live Focus.

The Galaxy A80 runs on Android 9.0 Pie with One UI. It comes with Samsung Health, KNOX, Bixby, Samsung Pass, Samsung Pay, Dolby Atmos, and more. The handset will be available in Angel Gold, Ghost White, and Phantom Black colors.
